Week 35 & Counting!

This New Year of 2011 has started out fabulously! Giovanni and I are growing in our faith and the Lord is showing His favour and we are counting our blessings. We have a lot of big decisions ahead of us in these next six months or so, and we are continuing to move forward as we look to Him for guidance and direction.

Thanksgiving Day - Week 28

We are in Week 35 of our pregnancy and we began our Childbirth Education Classes last night. We decided on Lamaze classes and are attending the only certified ones in Fresno. Last night’s class was filled with helpful information and we enjoyed learning from our teacher, Lisa Gartin. She is a RN, a Doula, a mother of three, and is in the process of becoming a Midwife as well. Pregnancy and Childbirth is such an amazing process and God has designed our bodies in such an incredible way. There are three other couples in our class and one lady is also at 35 weeks, and another at 36 weeks. Since full-term babies can come between 38 and 42 weeks, we are hoping not to lose most of the class before the end of the month!

I have been washing baby clothes, blankets and sheets and we are starting to get the nursery all organized. I have my suitcase out for the hospital, however I have yet to actually pack it! I spent a lot of time over the past week developing my birth plan and after I make a few final adjustments this weekend, it will be ready to go. I feel much more prepared now that I have researched everything and have my preferences down on paper for the hospital staff.

 Me and My Mom

We have finally decided on a pediatrician. It was a difficult task since only certain individuals are covered by my HMO. From this list we narrowed it down a bit and then called offices and attempted to meet with the doctors themselves, however it seems that the day of the meet and greet is long gone. No one that we called does that anymore, so we were forced to pick a pediatrician without meeting them first. We dropped by a few offices to take a look at the buildings themselves and chose a pediatrician located close to our apartment. Hopefully we are a good match and our values line up well.

Me and My Mom and Dad on Thanksgiving - Week 28

In recent weeks, I have been feeling times of rhythmic movements every few days from Scarlette that last about 15 minutes or so. I have been wondering what she is doing to create such a repetitive pattern of movement and on Tuesday I figured it out. She has hiccups! It has progressed over the past week to her having them almost daily, but it is a normal occurrence and also pretty adorable. In fact, she has them right now as I am writing this blog! We can’t wait to see her hiccupping in person!
